Since safe and high quality of blood supply is the core activities of the Blood Transfusion Service (BTS), it is pertinent to ensure efficient and effective services being delivered. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has established a common set of manufacturing, trade, communications and servicing standards that are applicable worldwide and which provide the basis of quality system plans for institutions such as blood centres.
Over the years, the BTS has established an integrated quality management system, in compliance with the requirements of ISO9001:2015 and ISO15189:2012 standards. Moreover, the requirements of ISO14001:2015, ISO45001:2018,AABB, NetCord-FACT (applicable for Cord Blood Bank) and ISO/IEC17043:2010 (applicable for Reference Laboratory) standards are also implemented in the system.
