Association for the Advancement of Blood and Biotherapies (AABB) accreditation

The AABB is a United States - based professional body and standards organization. AABB has developed standards concerning blood collection, testing, processing and transfusion, and assessed compliance with these standards through its accreditation program.

The Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service firstly acquired the AABB accreditation in April 2016 that recognized the institution’s continuous effort in quality and safety improvement during blood collection, testing, processing, storage and distribution.

In October 2022, the BTS successfully attained the new certificate after the accreditation audit.
