Information on Deferral

Image: Common Deferral Reasons of Blood Donation, including low haemoglobin level, on medication (including herbal medicine), currently under a doctor's treatment or awaiting test result. Travelled to or lived in areas where mosquito-borne infections are endemic, if you visited malaria endemic areas within 3 months or resided in malarial endemic areas within 3 years, or, if you visited West Nile Virus endemic areas (North America or WMV endemic countries in Europe) within 4 weeks before the date of blood donation. Besides, the history of flu or diarrhoea in the past 2 weeks, or received vaccine or dental treatment recently are also some common deferral reasons as well.
